Spa Castle Re-Opens After Extensive 6 Month Renovation
Relaunch is Anticipated for Monday, December 11th, 2023
NEW YORK – December 1, 2023 – Spa Castle was first established in College Point, Queens in 2007 and has since become a New York destination. Coined as a “Funhouse Floating in a Korean Spa” by the New York Times, Spa Castle has hosted approximately 3 million visitors since its inception of this first-of-its-kind modernized bathhouse. Spanning across this 70,000sf “Urban Resort” are over 20 different hydrotherapy plunge pools, 12 specialty sauna rooms, multiple eateries, a day spa, and relaxation lounges for family and friends to come together and heal.
Though renovations began 6 months ago, the facility closed its doors in September with plans to completely enhance the facility from the inside out. The façade has transformed the building to replicate the beautiful Blue and White structures found in Santorini, Greece. The brightened interior has been enhanced with all new flooring, tiling, lighting, and in some areas, expansive French ceilings. LED lighting has been installed to not only brighten the facility, but to help with energy conservation and sustainability.
But more important than the beautiful aesthetics of the space are the innovations made to the inner workings of what makes Spa Castle an “escape from the ordinary.” A complete replumbing of the entire water-based systems has strengthened the heart of the hydrotherapy facilities. All new patented touch panels to activate the strong relaxation jets have been installed. The Hinoki Bath has been revamped with brand new aromatic Japanese Hinoki Cedar (which has also been added to the Men and Women’s Dry Sauna rooms in the locker rooms.)
Most exciting is the introduction of 3 NEW hydrotherapy pools which have been added to its already robust lineup of Aqua Therapy; two of the new outdoor pools now include a “Waterfall” Domed grotto which instantly transports you to Greece as well as an “Outdoor Body Jet” station with cascading water. A new indoor “Foot Bath” has been constructed where guests can enjoy the views of the bridge. All pools will have replaced their Chemical Feeding systems to ensure the cleanliest waters for enjoyment. The Feeding Systems are monitored by a third party with real time updates and automatic calibration to meet NYC Health Codes.
Guests will also notice a difference in all the Sauna rooms. The height of all 7 Rooms in Sauna Valley have been expanded to lengthen the rooms. The Loess Salt Room has now converted to a gorgeous Himalayan Salt room with French Ceilings. Guests will also notice the inclusion of a Halotherapy room as well as a Seasonal Outdoor Cave, which will transform from a Warming escape on the Outdoor Pool deck during the Cold Seasons to a Chilled Room during the summertime. All new radiators have been brought in as well to not only heat the rooms, but to also enhance the effects of the Infrared therapy.
Lavender Beauty Spa, Spa Castle’s inhouse day spa, has refurbished its treatment rooms and waiting area, and equipped the space with new Facial machines. The Food & Beverage outlets will see a change in menu offerings, including the Korean Restaurant Sky Garden.
More additions will come as they reopen, including a Penthouse “Look Out” Lounge and Rooftop Infinity Pool which are anticipated to open in the Spring of 2024.
